Roll-off dumpster rentals are an excellent waste disposal solution that can be used to efficiently store waste from a renovation or construction project. However, renting a roll-off dumpster can be expensive, usually costing $300 or more. Because of this, dumpster bags might be a solid alternative for your waste disposal needs.
A dumpster bag – or “bagster” – is a heavy-duty canvas bag that has been specially designed for waste disposal. These bags can hold up to 3 cubic yards of waste, which is half of what a 6-year dumpster can hold. Since dumpster bags sell for about $30, they can be a much cheaper alternative to renting a roll-off dumpster. Keep in mind, however, that removal and disposal fees for dumpster bags will generally cost $100 to $200.
The main drawback to dumpster bags is that they aren’t nearly as sturdy as heavy-duty dumpsters. While dumpster bags can contain up to 1.65 tons of waste, they’re also vulnerable to ripping, especially when filled to maximum capacity. Picking up dumpster bags can also prove a difficult process, as a crane will usually be required to lift them into a truck bed for proper removal and disposal.
The capacity of dumpster bags is also much lower than even the smallest roll-off dumpsters and if you find yourself needing to purchase several dumpster bags, the cost may end up exceeding that of a dumpster rental. However, dumpster bags may still be a reliable waste disposal solution for a smaller scale renovation or construction project.
